WHOLE & HEALTHY CHILDREN MENTOR REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to the Whole & Healthy Children Initiative, and thanks for your willingness to participate as a mentor with us. Here are the instructions you need to follow to complete this process:
First you need to register as a volunteer, choosing the “Mentor” category, and marking clearly the school you chose to mentor in. If you don’t know the school you want to mentor in, pick one that is close to your place of work or home.
Second, you need to download the Mentor Training Manual (PDF File) We recommend that you save it in your hard drive, or to an external thumb or hard drive. We also strongly recommend you print it out. We expect you to read this manual, references to it will be made in the Transformational Mentor Training (TMT) video.
Third, watch the TMT video (about 1 hour long), take notes and write questions as you watch it. At the end of your manual you will find the Mentor Covenant. Print out 2 copies and sign and date both of them if you desire to become a Whole & Healthy Children Mentor.
Fourth, locate the contact information of the Mentor Coordinator of the school you want to mentor in. You will need to contact your Mentor Coordinator, who will give you the opportunity to ask questions. You will give your Mentor Coordinator one copy of the Mentor Covenant you signed, and keep one copy for you records. Your Mentor Coordinator will share with you the additional requirements of your School District. This may include school district training and will certainly include a background check.
Finally, after completing the previous steps, you will need to fill out one last form on line.
We understand this process will require some time to be completed: coordinating volunteers, coordinators, School Districts, and schools is a complex process. We believe the transformation in our Schools and our Communities is worth our best efforts, and we sincerely appreciate your patience.
