"Revive, Restore & Renew: Houston Parks" Clean-Up Project
On Saturday, April 5 and April 12, Mission Houston and the City of Houston will be partnering with local churches and ministries to clean up 10 City of Houston public parks (Agnes Moffitt, Burnett Bayland, Edgewood, Freed, Hermann, Mason, Memorial, Moody, Stude, Sunnyside). These parks were strategically selected because of their locations in neighborhoods where a large percentage of the households are economically disadvantaged with higher numbers of children at risk.
To date, several congregations and organizations have registered to help in cleaning up these parks including Lakewood Church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Crosspoint Church, Cypress Bible Church, Bear Creek United Methodist Church and Houston Baptist University, to name just a few. The project will require 25-50 volunteers per park, who will bring their own equipment and supplies to clean up their assigned park.
The "Revive, Restore & Renew: Houston Parks!¨ Project is a continuation of Mission Houston's long-term initiative called Whole and Healthy Children, aimed at improving the lives of Houston's children. Last year, Mission Houston was awarded the Mayor's Proud Partners Award for the Love You Lots!¨ project in May 2007.
