100 Commitments in 100 Days
For nearly a decade, Mission Houston has plowed the ground for the whole Body of Christ to get mobilized into effective Kingdom service. In September we are implementing our most ambitious effort ever, and today I am writing to ask you to join us in praying for God to significantly enlarge both our volunteer and our donor base. Between June 1 and September 8, 2008, we are asking God to provide both 100 new volunteers and 100 new donors to seed this effort. We are calling this emphasis "100 Commitments in 100 Days".
The volunteer base! Through the Whole and Healthy Children Initiative (WHC), we will be working with teams of volunteers in six communities to recruit 100 mentors for six schools, 100 intercessors for the mentors and the children they are mentoring, and a volunteer work force to do a campus improvement project at each school. This will be at least 1200 volunteers making weekly contributions plus the work teams. We are asking you to join us in asking God for 100 volunteers who will influence and recruit others - from their small group members, their office colleagues, or members of their Sunday School class - to join them in becoming one of the 1200 that are needed.
The donor base! To successfully implement the Whole and Healthy Children Initiative, Mission Houston needs to hire a Mentoring Program Coordinator and provide training and training materials to mentors and the CSA teams. This requires an increase in donations of just under $150,000 - a God-sized challenge. We are asking you to join us in asking God for 100 new donors who will each make a recurring monthly financial commitment to Mission Houston to underwrite the cost of this effort, investing in transforming the lives of children and communities citywide.
